About Laoshi Mike
Laoshi Mike has been training in Kung-fu for 8 years and has earned his blue stripe. He also holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, which he trained in for eleven years. He spent one year doing Aikido with a focus on self defense and four years training in Brazilian Jiujitsu, learning grappling and ground defense techniques. Laoshi Mike has been teaching at Kung-fu for Christ for the past six years and is most passionate about teaching self-defence and grappling.
In his free time, Laoshi Mike enjoys distance running, hiking and spending time with his family. Some of his preferred hobbies include painting, board games, video games and reading novels.
Laoshi Mike is a regional police officer, currently assigned as a Use of Force Instructor. This includes multiple Defensive Tactic Instructor certifications, as well as First Aid Instructor certification. In addition to teaching on Thursday nights, he is also an instructor with Kung-fu for Christ’s Women’s Self-Defence program.
